Turmeric milk is a traditional hot beverage that soothes the sinuses and settles the stomach. And you’ll sleep like a baby.

Heat 2 cups of milk with 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder, a pinch of ground ginger, a few twists of black pepper and a cinnamon stick (or 2 crushed cardomom pods). Simmer on a low heat for a few minutes to bring out the healthy properties of the spices. Add honey to taste, drink warm.

According to Ayurveda turmeric has anti-inflammatory, antibiotic and anti-oxidant properties. Ginger, black pepper, cinnamon and cardomom are warming spices that help keep the sniffles at bay. The warm milk provides protein and makes tryptophan, a sleep-enhancing amino acid, more readily available to the body.
